About Our School<\/p>\n

We are a happy and successful High School with a Sixth Form.\u00a0 We serve the whole community of Droitwich and its surrounding villages, making our intake socio-economically diverse, which our entire staff play up to and thrive upon.\u00a0 We use our House system alongside our academic work to create a sense of belonging, identity and recognition as well as ambition and optimism.<\/p>\n

About the Vacancy<\/p>\n

A maternity leave changed the leadership of our Maths department in mid 2021.\u00a0 One of our Senior Leadership Team (who is a talented maths teacher and an ex Head of Maths at a previous school) has run the department very effectively in the interim but the time has come to make a long term, strategic appointment.<\/p>\n

We are open minded about the level of seniority and experience required of applicants.\u00a0 The successful applicant could be somebody who is relatively early in their career but has a passion for teaching and learning in Maths and would rise to the challenge of leading a large department team successfully.\u00a0 Alternatively, the candidate could be more experienced (perhaps an existing Head of Maths or a senior department TLR holder) who can put their skills and talents to use in leading the department whilst also contributing to wider leadership of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team.\u00a0 Please make your position clear with respect to this in your letter of application.<\/p>\n

There is, of course, a full job description and person specification available but it is important to stress the selected candidate will need to be a role model in their own classroom, have the credibility to inspire and lead a large team and have unwavering commitment to sustaining a culture of ambition, optimism and high performance.<\/p>\n

About our Maths Department<\/p>\n

Colleagues in the Maths department have a strong tradition of supporting each other; colleagues look out for one another and retain a strong sense of purpose and accountability.\u00a0 Creativity and individuality in planning and delivering is embraced and celebrated but there is also a well planned framework from which to work with increasing opportunities for collaboration.<\/p>\n

There is a wide range of experience in the department and we are proud of the fact that all of our colleagues are Maths specialists.\u00a0 All colleagues teach across the age and ability range, with some specialism at A level.<\/p>\n

Numbers for Sixth Form are strong, with both Year 12 and 13 having 2 A level groups as well as a Further Maths group.\u00a0 The applications for Sixth Form next year suggest that this will remain the case.\u00a0 Results at KS5 are strong with 67% of grades at A or A* for both Maths and Further Maths.<\/p>\n
