Job Description and Person Spec<\/a><\/p>\n

We are a happy and successful High School with a Sixth Form.\u00a0 We serve the whole community of Droitwich and its surrounding villages, making our intake socio-economically diverse, which our entire staff play up to and thrive upon.\u00a0 We use our House system alongside our academic work to create a sense of belonging, identity and recognition as well as ambition and optimism.<\/p>\n

The Vacancy:<\/p>\n

We are looking for a History teacher to join our experienced and supportive team for a maternity cover position. The successful candidate needs to be passionate about the subject and has the drive to inspire and empower the young minds of our students at Droitwich Spa High School. They will be responsible for teaching History across Year 8, Year 9, and Year 10, across the full age and ability range of the school and will also take on the responsibility of running a tutor group. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a progressive and established team of 4 History teachers who are committed to delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons. The appointment will be for up to a year to cover a maternity absence.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n

Deliver History lessons to students in Years 8 to 10, ensuring a high standard of teaching.
\nPlan with the aid of our fully resourced department, prepare, and mark work to meet the requirements of the national curriculum and Edexcel GCSE exam board
\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Take responsibility for running a tutor group, supporting the personal development and wellbeing of students, reporting to the Head of House<\/p>\n

Foster a love for History and encourage student participation and critical thinking.
\nProvide strong behaviour management to ensure a positive and productive classroom environment.
\nWork collaboratively with a team of 4 experienced History teachers to share ideas and resources.
\nContribute to the development of the school by promoting high standards of achievement in students and high-quality learning and teaching
\nSupport curriculum planning and development in the subject
\nPromote a range of appropriate teaching approaches and assist in the development of suitable learning and teaching resources
\nAttend meetings and parents\u2019 evenings as set out in the published school calendar
\nAbout our department:<\/p>\n

The History department has a strong tradition of supportiveness; colleagues look out for one another and retain a strong sense of purpose.\u00a0 Creativity and individuality in planning and delivering is embraced and celebrated but there is also a well-planned framework from which to work from.<\/p>\n

The Ideal Candidate:<\/p>\n

A genuine passion for History and enthusiasm for inspiring young people.
\nStrong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
\nCreative, energetic, and able to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to lessons.
\nA proactive colleague, willing to collaborate and contribute to the success of the department.
\nStrong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines for marking and assessments.
\nExperience of teaching KS3 and KS4 History is essential.
\nKnowledge of the Edexcel GCSE exam board is advantageous
