{"id":4277,"date":"2022-01-19T10:34:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T10:34:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/website.droitwichspahigh.worcs.sch.uk\/?page_id=4277"},"modified":"2022-06-09T10:35:55","modified_gmt":"2022-06-09T10:35:55","slug":"year-11","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/website.droitwichspahigh.worcs.sch.uk\/index.php\/student-development-and-support\/careers\/year-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 11"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We ensure all of our students receive timely and appropriate advice regarding their \u2018next steps\u2019 during their time at DSHS through a programme of careers education and advice and guidance provided by careers team, teaching colleagues and tutors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are fully committed to ensuring our students leave school with a place in the sixth form, at college or in employment with training (e.g. an apprenticeship) in line with the Government\u2019s Raising the Participation Age (RPA) agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All young people in England are required to continue in education or training until they are 18 years old. &nbsp;This does not mean they must stay in school and are they are able to choose from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Full-time education (eg at a school or college)<\/li><li>An apprenticeship or traineeship<\/li><li>Part-time education or training combined with one of the following:<ul><li>Employment or self-employment for 20 hours or more a week<\/li><li>Volunteering for 20 hours or more a week<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A large proportion of our Year 11 students return to Droitwich Spa Sixth Form to study 3 or 4 A levels\/BTECs\/Cambridge Technical or a combination of the above. The remaining&nbsp; follow a range of other options including vocational courses at college and apprenticeships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the course of year 11 every student will have a last one face to face guided appointment with our impartial and highly qualified careers advisor, Lindsay. During this appointment we will ensure that every young person has explored a range of options and is fully supported to make the best decision for them. For many young people there will be an opportunity for more than one appointment and some of our more vulnerable young people will be invited to earlier or more appointments so that they can receive the support needed to secure high-quality destinations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We ensure all of our students receive timely and appropriate advice regarding their \u2018next steps\u2019 during their time at DSHS through a programme of careers education and advice and guidance provided by careers team, teaching colleagues and tutors.
